How to Use
- Wash and dry your face.
- Apply your regular moisturizer first if you use one.
- Dab a very thin layer of the Vaseline mixture over dry areas before bed.
- Wash your face as usual in the morning.
For Dark Spots
Instead of relying on homemade mixtures, ingredients with better evidence include:
- Niacinamide
- Vitamin C
- Azelaic acid
- Daily sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher)
These are more likely to improve uneven pigmentation over time.
For Wrinkles
No homemade Vaseline mixture has been proven to erase wrinkles. Products with the strongest evidence include:
- Retinol or prescription retinoids
- Sunscreen every day
- Moisturizers containing hyaluronic acid or ceramides
A Few Precautions
- Vaseline is very occlusive, so it may trigger breakouts in people with oily or acne-prone skin.
- Avoid adding lemon juice, baking soda, toothpaste, or essential oils to facial skincare mixtures, as these can irritate or damage the skin.
- Always patch-test any new product on a small area of skin for 24 hours before applying it to your face.
While Vaseline is an excellent moisturizer for dry skin, the dramatic “before and after” claims often seen on social media are not supported by scientific evidence.
