Not Every Question Deserves an Answer

One lesson from the experience was that the public does not automatically have a right to every private detail.

People may be curious.

But curiosity doesn’t justify exposing intimate information.

The family had to learn how to say:

“We aren’t discussing that.”

That boundary can be difficult when public attention becomes overwhelming.

But protecting privacy can be especially important when children are involved.

The Two Mothers Eventually Faced the Same Question

At some point, they had to ask:

What kind of relationship do we want our children to have?

The answer couldn’t simply be determined by what had happened between the adults.

The children might grow up close.

They might become best friends.
