For eight years, my husband kept telling me we should wait before having children.
First, he wanted a better job. Then he wanted us to finish renovating the house. Whenever I brought up starting a family, Tony smiled and promised, “Just a little more time, Jennifer. I want to be the best father I can be.”
I believed him.
Then a twenty-nine-year-old woman named Dakota moved into the house across the street.
At first, she seemed friendly. But soon she started bringing my husband coffee every morning, always waiting for him just as he left for work.
One morning, I watched her hand Tony a folded note.
The moment he read it, his expression changed.
When I demanded to see the message, I found just two sentences:
**“You have until Friday to tell Jennifer the truth. Otherwise, I’ll tell her myself.”**
I immediately suspected an affair.
But then I discovered several unexplained payments to a pediatric clinic and a series of bank transfers Tony had labeled as business consulting expenses.
