I Joined A Charity Race—Then Watched My Husband Cross The Finish Line Holding Another Woman’s Hand.

I felt my stomach tighten.

Daniel stepped forward.

“Claire, can we discuss this somewhere else?”

I looked at him.

“Why?”

“Because we’re standing in the middle of a crowd.”

“You chose to run here.”

“Claire…”

“You knew I was participating in this exact race.”

He rubbed the back of his neck.

That was a familiar habit.

Daniel always did it when he was trying to think of the right explanation.

Laura looked at him.

“Daniel, what’s going on?”

He opened his mouth.

But she spoke again before he could answer.

“You told me you and your wife were separated.”

The words seemed to hang in the air.

I looked directly at him.

“Separated?”

Daniel closed his eyes briefly.

Laura continued.

“You said you didn’t live together anymore.”

For a moment, I couldn’t speak.

Then I looked at her.

“He left our bed at seven o’clock this morning.”
