I Pretended to Be Unconscious and Heard My Husband Say, “In Two Days, Everything Will Be Ours”—Then the Hospital Preserved His Thermos

“No.”

“Did you previously grant Gregory a power of attorney?”

“No.”

“Does he have access to your corporate signature system?”

“He shouldn’t.”

“That is not the same as no.”

I closed my eyes.

Miriam nodded.

“We verify.”

That became our rule.

Verify.

Do not assume.

Do not accuse beyond evidence.

Do not destroy anything.

Do not post online.

Do not call Paige.

Do not warn employees.

Preserve.

Miriam contacted Vanguard’s internal operations director, Thomas Reed,

through a secure channel.

Thomas checked system access.

Something was wrong.

Three days before my hospitalization, an administrator account had been

used to download templates for executive authorization, banking

contacts, insurance schedules and vendor authority letters.

The account belonged to Paige.

That did not prove Paige personally used it.

Credentials can be shared or compromised.

Miriam said:

“Do not jump.”

I nodded.

But then Thomas found something worse.

A draft announcement scheduled in our internal communications platform.
