Turn on the light and inspect the accessible areas from different angles.
You don’t need to crawl underneath the bed.
Look from the sides, check behind furniture, and pay attention to areas that are difficult to see from the entrance.
A flashlight can reveal objects, unusual movement, discarded belongings, or other things that a rolling bottle cannot detect.
And if something genuinely looks suspicious, don’t put yourself in danger trying to investigate it.
Leave the room and contact hotel staff or security.
6. Check the Rest of the Room Too
The space underneath the bed isn’t the only area worth checking after entering an unfamiliar hotel room.
A quick visual inspection can include:
Behind curtains
Inside the bathroom
Behind doors
Around wardrobes
Under desks
Near balconies or windows
Inside closets
This doesn’t mean you should become paranoid every time you travel.
It’s simply a reasonable habit if it makes you feel more comfortable.
