Your brain is still young if you can spot the man in a hat

The more naturally you interpret the picture as a landscape, the harder it can be to see the second image.

Negative Space May Be Just as Important as the Rocks

When searching for hidden images, don’t look only at the dark objects.

Pay attention to the spaces between them.

Negative space is the area surrounding or separating visible objects.

Artists often use negative space to create secondary images.

A gap between two rocks might become the shape of a nose.

A patch of lighter ground could form part of a cheek.

An opening between branches might contribute to the outline of a hat.

In other words, the empty areas aren’t necessarily empty at all.

They may be essential pieces of the puzzle.

Try Squinting Slightly

Another classic optical-illusion technique is to squint.

When you partially close your eyes, small details become less prominent while larger shapes remain.

This can help reveal the overall pattern.
