Elaine went silent.
Then she asked one question.
“Anna, did you give either of them permission?”
“No.”
“Do you want me to help you recover your things?”
My eyes filled with tears.
“Yes. Please.”
“Send me every screenshot. Then get something to eat and try to rest. I’ll handle what I can tomorrow.”
After we ended the call, Tara finally sent another message.
*Please don’t tell Mom. Nick said you knew about everything.*
I read it twice.
Then I forwarded it to Elaine.
Because now I was certain there was much more happening than a simple misunderstanding.
The following morning, Elaine called shortly after nine.
“Anna, I’m outside Tara’s apartment. Before I go in, tell me exactly what you want.”
I looked at the receipts scattered across my bed.
“Everything she still has. Whatever money she made from selling my clothes. And the truth about why she did this.”
