What Happened After the Hair Was Gone
The next morning, Rosa woke up and reached behind her shoulder out of habit.
For years, that movement had been automatic.
Her hand would usually find a thick braid, a heavy bundle of hair, or several feet of strands gathered together while she slept. Even before opening her eyes completely, she had become accustomed to knowing where her hair was.
This time, there was almost nothing there.
Her fingers moved across the back of her neck and stopped.
For a moment, she simply lay still.
Then she smiled.
It was a small moment, but it marked the beginning of a completely different routine.
For 25 years, Rosa had lived with extraordinarily long hair.
Now she was learning what life felt like without it.
And surprisingly, the strangest part wasn’t looking in the mirror.
It was moving through the day.
The First Morning Felt Different
Rosa got out of bed and walked toward the bathroom.
