For the first time that night, she wasn’t afraid.
She was curious.
When Vincent entered, he immediately noticed the expression on her face.
“You found it.”
Lena stood still.
“You knew?”
Vincent said nothing.
“You knew this was in my bag?”
“Yes.”
The answer hurt more than she expected.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because it wasn’t my secret to tell.”
“Then whose secret is it?”
Vincent looked at the photograph in her hand.
And for the first time since she had met him, the most feared man in New York looked uncertain.
“Your father’s.”
Lena felt the world shift.
“My father?”
Vincent nodded slowly.
“He wasn’t who you were told he was.”
Silence filled the room.
Outside, the city continued moving.
Cars passed.
People walked.
Lights flickered across buildings.
But Lena felt like she was standing at the edge of a life she had never known existed.
