The compartment was concealed behind the legitimate-looking cargo, making it difficult to notice during a casual inspection.
He forced the hidden section open.
Then he looked inside.
What he discovered left him stunned.
Dozens of Exotic Bird Eggs
Inside the concealed compartment were dozens of exotic bird eggs.
They had apparently been taken from their natural environment and hidden inside the aircraft for illegal trafficking.
Suddenly, the entire flight made sense.
The flock had not been following the aircraft randomly.
It had been following the eggs.
What Jason initially interpreted as a bizarre and dangerous attack now appeared to have a completely different explanation.
The birds had been responding to the disappearance of their young.
The hidden cargo had transformed an ordinary flight into something far more disturbing.
Someone had attempted to transport the eggs secretly, relying on the ordinary-looking freight to conceal them.
And somehow, the birds had followed.
