People may worry about sounding strange.
They may fear rejection.
They may feel embarrassed.
They may assume their partner won’t understand.
So instead of explaining what they enjoy, they simply repeat the behavior.
This can create a cycle.
One partner keeps choosing a position.
The other wonders why.
Neither asks.
Both continue guessing.
Breaking that cycle can be as simple as a respectful question.
27. Try Curiosity Instead of Judgment
If you want to understand your partner’s preference, approach the conversation like you’re learning something about someone you care about.
You might say:
“I’ve noticed that’s your favorite. What do you enjoy about it?”
Then listen.
Don’t interrupt.
Don’t immediately argue.
Don’t turn the answer into evidence for a theory you’ve already decided is true.
You may find the explanation is incredibly simple.
And even if his reason is different from what you expected, understanding it can reduce anxiety.
28. You Can Ask What He Wants—and Tell Him What You Want
Good communication works both ways.
